Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer 2 States has opened to a terrific response at Box Office. An adaptation of the Chetan Bhagat’s national bestseller of the same name has managed to rake in 40 crores in first weekend. The trade analysts were expecting a decent 6 to 7 crore opening for 2 States but the movie amasses all expectations opened with a bang at Box Office with first day collections of 12.42 crores. What good to see is the pace that the movie has managed to maintained over a weekend. Overall 2 States first weekend Box Office collection was splendid.

What worked in favor of 2 States is the youth connection with it. Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States was one of the most loved books of 2000’s. Ever since the announcement of movie, there was a huge buzz around it and the youth especially college-goers were waiting eagerly for the movie.
The movie has received positive WOM from critics as well as audiences. What surprising to see is which seems a movie for metros and high-class audiences is doing fabulous business on single screens and mass centers as well.
With no significant competition for the next two weeks, 2 States has an advantage to make its position stringer at Box Office and comes up as one of the big hits of 2014.
